Circle is committed to making a difference in our community. To do that we’re going back to the model of the early church. A group of people without power, prestige or connections who still managed to change the known world. Their secret weapon? Extraordinary generosity!
Over the last month we’ve been working on building a vision for Impact YXE. An opportunity for everyone at Circle to give and serve.
Pastor Eldon started the Impact YXE series with this introduction.
So, Let’s Be Generous!!
We asked people in Saskatoon if they thought that they were rich. We know that if you have $35,000 of after tax income at your house you are in the TOP 1.62% wealthiest people out of everyone on the planet. So reasonably, almost everyone we spoke to should be “rich.”
As you likely anticipated, none of us really “feel” rich, even though we are wealthy in a global context! And when we feel WE don’t have quite enough, it can stop us from being generous with causes we believe in.
We wanted to help everyone see that even when you don’t feel rich, you can still make an impact. A little can mean a lot to organizations and individuals in our city.
What Limits Our Partners Impact?
To determine just what was needed, we talked to our partner organizations. Groups we know are doing great work, but who don’t always have the resources to make the impact they wish they could.
Spontaneous Giving
To be very clear, at Circle we strongly encourage everyone to have a financial plan. That plan needs to include percentages for saving, giving and spending. However, we also know that sometimes, something will just catch your eye. You whip out your cards and shortly you have something so awesome that you want to “order more for your family”.
We know. It can happen to anyone! 😉
So after seeing what was limiting our partners’ impact, we took that idea of spontaneously spending $39.95 on something a bit ridiculous, and instead being spontaneously generous to increase Impact YXE through those partner organizations.
We asked everyone at church on Sunday, November 25, to whip out their payment mechanisms and “buy” one or more $39.95 contributions to Impact YXE. Our promise was to deliver 100% of those donations to our partners!
The Big Give
The week after that Sunday we tallied up all the donations, cut cheques, loaded up vehicles with gifts, and made deliveries to our partners to assist them with increasing their Impact YXE.
Along with the cheques we presented, we delivered a TV to the Lighthouse, treat bags to BBBS, baby items to EGADZ, food to YFC (with winter clothing items and treat bags to be delivered the week after). We are also collecting gifts for Teen Challenge which will be delivered just before Christmas and assembled 260 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child too!
As well, 70 volunteers from Circle will prepare for and/or serve at City Centre Church’s Christmas dinner outreach along with providing 25+ delicious pies!
It was a very exciting week to be part of Circle!
Be The Movement
But it doesn’t end there!
We want you to be generous and continue to “Be The Movement” as all of us continue to Impact YXE. All our partners can use more donations of money. However, you can contribute as much, or more, to their impact by volunteering your time.
And we know there are a LOT of worthy organizations that Circle doesn’t partner with. If you are passionate about a cause, generously contribute your time and money to it and continue to Impact YXE through them.

Impact YXE #6

From Series: "Impact YXE"
At Circle we want to Impact YXE. The way human beings are wired, we all want to make a difference and leave a legacy. Research studies indicate there are positive benefits to investing time and resources to helping others. There is less: Depression Heart disease Stress Drug use Unplanned pregnancies When we invest in others we live healthier and longer. Over the next weeks, Sunday mornings at 10:30am and through the week in Circle Groups, we will discuss how the people of Circle can do things individually and together to Impact YXE.
